Your Voice

Healthy habits and confidence matter more than sounding “perfect”

Children do not need a professional singer. They need an adult who is willing to join them. Sing comfortably, avoid straining your voice, and let the joy of participation lead.

What If I’m Not Comfortable Singing?

  • Use recordings with instructions that children can sing along with or follow.
  • Go on a sound hunt and imitate the rhythms you hear around you.
  • Chant instead of singing, keeping a steady beat by patting your thighs.
  • Try different voices—whisper, soft, silly, or expressive—and invite children to choose.
  • Ask another parent or teacher to join if you want a more confident singing partner.
