Noodle Sand Blocks
Bright, quiet sand blocks made from inexpensive swimming noodles or foam pipe insulation.
Materials
Swimming noodles, or gray foam pipe-insulation tubes from a hardware store. Use a saw, utility knife, or—best of all—an electric knife to cut them.
Instructions
Cut the noodle into 3–4 inch pieces, then cut each piece in half lengthwise. Marking a circle first can help guide the cut. Use care with knives. When children rub the pieces together they make a wonderful sand-block sound; clapping them makes a quiet, muffled clap.
