Juice can shakers

Juice Can Shakers

Fun, ethnic-looking shakers made from juice cans, tape, and rice.

Materials

  • Juice cans with paper labels
  • Duct tape and waxed paper
  • Rice or similar filling
  • Hot glue
  • Electrical tape in different colors

Instructions

Drink the juice, remove labels and pull tabs, then wash and dry the cans. Add a small amount of rice and test the sound. Put duct tape on waxed paper, trace the can bottom, and cut a circle for each can. Seal each top with the tape and a ring of hot glue. Finish with a strip of electrical tape around the middle.

With four tape colors and twelve cans, you can make three shakers of each color and use songs to learn colors in Spanish or another language. They also work well with egg-shaking songs.
