Sharon Chastain
Children's librarian with early-childhood, education, and library-science training who builds highly interactive storytimes.
How Singing Supports Her Work
Sharon describes storytime as a daily, calculated expression of joy. She uses opening, midpoint, and closing songs to provide structure, then adds themed songs that encourage laughing, repeating, wiggling, and full-group participation.
Favorite Songs
- Sticky Bubblegum
- Old MacDonald Had a Farm
- A-Hunting We Will Go
- Five Enormous Dinosaurs
- I've Been Working On The Railroad
One Thing To Remember
Her advice is not to be shy about singing. She frames songs as one of the easiest ways to help children burn energy, build familiarity, and stay connected to the group.
