Rick Samuelson
Youth services librarian with Washington County Cooperative Library Services in Oregon, and a parent who connects singing directly to early literacy.
How Singing Supports His Work
Rick's storytimes rely on nursery rhymes, movement songs, and musical play to help children build vocabulary, sound awareness, and motor skills. Singing is not an extra layer in storytime but one of the strongest paths into language.

One Thing To Remember
Rick's central point is simple: sing early and sing often. He describes singing as a bridge to literacy even before books click, and shows how a regular musical routine helps grow a love of language.
