This is a simple finger play, and can also be use with the felt board. I've included a pattern for sea stars on the printable PDF . Here are some simple facts you can share with children before you sing: The correct name for 'Starfish,' is sea star. Most have five arms, and if one breaks off, it will grow a new one! Here in Washington State Where I live, there are more different kinds of sea stars here than anywhere else in the world! 'Cling' means to hang onto. One pretty sea star (hold up one finger)
Spreads its arms (open hand to show five fingers)
And clings to the rocks (place open hand on closed fist in front of body)
Beneath my feet (lower hand and fist to ground)
The tide rolls in (roll hands towards body as you lean back)
And rolls out again (roll hands away from body as you lean forward)
Two little sea stars (hold up two fingers )
I can see (circle eyes as if holding binoculars)
Repeat with 3, 4, and 5.
