Recently I did a music workshop with the children's librarians of the King County Library System in Seattle, Washington. They split into groups and developed simple fingerplays from the first lines I provided. Then each group presented its creation. They were all wonderful! I put melodies to some of them and thought that this month I'd share one of my favorites with you. (Hold up one finger, then 4) (Hold up 2 fingers) (Hold up 3 fingers, then move them quickly up and down) (Hold up 4 fingers, then rest head on hands) (Hold up 5 fingers, then 'fly' fingers away) (Clap hands once on each 'munch')
Lyrics
One little dragonfly with four shiny wings
Two little dragonflies learning how to sing
Three little dragonflies zipping up and down
Four little dragonflies resting on the ground
Five little dragonflies going home for lunch
Along came a frog and munch, munch, munch!
Make five felt dragonflies from pattern below to use on felt board.
OR….
• Print out five color copies, and glue felt to backs
• Laminate paper dragonflies, and attach a piece of comb sided Velcro, so it will
stick to a felt board
• Decorate wings with glitter glue
