Henry the Dog was the hit song from my summer reading program this year. I wrote it to accompany my limberjack dog. A limberjack is a wonderful folk toy and rhythm instrument, and children are absolutely enthralled with it! At the bottom of this page you can watch a video of my best friend Marylee demonstrating the limberjack while singing this song. If you'd like to get yourself a limberjack dog, To use this song without a limberjack: Use this song for dramatic play. The children can all be 'Henry the Dog.' During the song, instruct them to walk around the room (on all fours, like a dog of course!). As the spoken lyrics instruct, they can stop and do the 'tricks' (sit, lie down, jump, roll over). I have left instrumental time in the recording for them to do this. As you walk around, you can pat them on the head and say, 'Good dog!' Henry the Dog Henry and me (spoken tricks: sit, lie down, jump, roll over)
Lyrics
I have a little dog, his name is Henry
He's the best dog that you ever did see
Every morning we go walking
Around the neighborhood, Henry and me
