Here in the northern hemisphere it is autumn, or fall. (Fall is the British word for the season, and autumn is an American word) You can do this song in a variety of ways, depending on the ages of the children, the space you are in, and whether or not you have scarves or even leaves to dance with. So just have fun with it and use the ideas below, or make up your own! Simple hand motions while seated (wave arms around for wind, fingers flutter down for leaves, etc.) Standing, and doing similar motions to above, but with whole body involved. Scarves! Have each child hold one or more scarves, depending on how many you have- the more the merrier! Let the scarves be the leaves, and simply follow the lyrics. Have a box or basket for children to put the scarves in at the end of the song and you have a built-in clean up! LEAVES! If you are lucky enough to have an outdoor space with fallen leaves, why not act out the song with those leaves. Children can just use their hands to rake the leaves, and again, put them in a basket. A little twirling around in the fresh air is also a must. And if the ground is dry and covered with leaves, have the children lie down and make snow angels with the leaves.
