🌿 Backyard Boogie
Explore the fascinating and fragile world in your own backyard! This activity page accompanies the Backyard Boogie concert — wiggling, singing, and dancing through an interactive exploration of the creatures and plants right outside your door.
Activity: Backyard Detective
Invite children to become detectives searching for backyard animals. This works beautifully as a movement and singing activity:
- 1 Sing the "Backyard Detective" song while children circle the room and name backyard animals.
- 2 Collect a bag of animal props (felt pieces, plastic figures, or stuffed animals). Mix in a few non-backyard creatures to keep children on their toes.
- 3 Children take turns drawing an animal from the bag. If it's a backyard creature, everyone sings along. If not, set it aside and try again!
